fuzzy creative stuff

elmo_img_7431_small.jpg

Creativity comes in many forms and Kevin Clash has developed one of the most unique - and universal. Elmo. Try photographing this guy with puppet on display and you quickly realize that he draws kids like candy. They cry, they scream, they freak out. They just plain love Elmo. Clash is a very talented guy that benefited from a tremendous amount of support as a youth - both from family and the community. My Life as a Furry Red Monster :What Being Elmo Has Taught Me About Life, Love and Laughing Out Loud is his book from 2006 and covers a lot of how he got started, mentors and more. A good read - and inspiring whether child or adult. Even my teenager loved it. Photo: Robert Holland

a good cause can be fun too

Gotta love a good cause where everyone has fun too (just look at the shot of the Novins Memorial committee above). The Robert F. Novins Memorial Golf Tournament is one of those. It was created in 2002 by Carson Novins and his sister, Beth, in honor of their father, a highly respected New Jersey lawyer who passed away after a battle with colon cancer. The tournament draws participants from all over the country - in 2007, 132 golfers hit the links and raised nearly $50,000. Funds raised by the event benefit the Robert and Carol Weissman Cancer Center at Martin Memorial Hospital, Stuart, Florida. This year, proceeds will be used to purchase a vehicle that will transport patients to and from the cancer center and to doctors appointments. More info here. thanks for the blog MJ

How many people can say Michael Jordan works with them? Well, there could be a lot once word of Michael’s skills gets around. Ok, he’s not that MJ but he’s a heck of a designer, retoucher and photographer too. Some of his work here. Thanks to Mike for pulling the blog together and learning all the new stuff it required - though I still say it comes easier when you’re barely old enought to vote . . .
